Maggie’s Restaurant
One of our favorite perks during our stay at Desolation hotel was Maggie’s, their on-site restaurant. We knew this place would be good when saw hoards of people coming from all over Lake Tahoe to eat. The drinks were amazing and our favorite dishes were the beef short rib and french toast. It’s a great place to eat for brunch or date night. They also have an outdoor patio if you decide to bring your dog and doggie menus are available as well.
Nearby Activities
Logan Shoals Vista
Logan Shoals vista was highly recommended by the staff at Desolation and it’s a great viewpoint just a short drive from the hotel. The sunset view from here was fantastic and was just a short walk from the parking lot. Unlike a lot of areas in Lake Tahoe this area actually had a decent sized parking lot and dogs are also allowed.
Secret Cove Beach
If you’re looking for a scenic beach in Lake Tahoe look no further than Secret Cove Beach. Picture clear blue water and lots of boulders surrounding it. It’s a classic Lake Tahoe view. Despite the name, it is not a secret so I recommend getting here early or during the week if you want to snag a spot. It is a clothing optional beach so keep that in mind if you are bringing children.
Heavenly Ski Resort
Less than 3 miles from the hotel is the famous Heavenly Ski resort. In the summer you can also take the gondola up from here for some epic views. All these hikes and activities nearby make Desolation Hotel the perfect base for adventure. Check Rates.
