La Paz is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico so it’s only right to find a resort that’s right on the water. Surprisingly enough, you won’t find that many beach resorts in La Paz. Puerta Cortés is located conveniently between Balandra beach and the malécon and they have access to a beautiful private beach making it the perfect place to stay.

Puerta Cortés Community

Puerta Cores Marina

When you stay in Puerta Cortes, you are in a semi private community where you can literally walk to coffee shops and restaurants. During our stay we loved visiting Doce Cuarenta for coffee and Odayaka for sushi. If you aren’t up for walking, they offer free shuttles.

Puerta Resort Amenities

Puerta Cortes Pool

Puerta Cortés has all the amenities you could ever ask for in a beach resort. Multiple pools, swim up bar, beach club, spa, gym, and more. There are also so many types of accommodations to choose from. They offer rooms that are perfect for couples but also have villas if you are traveling with your family.

Blue Cortés Beach Club

The Blue Cortés Beach Club is private to hotel guests of Puerta Cortes so you’ll be able to enjoy this beautiful beach without the crowds. There are lounge chairs, a pool overlooking the beach, a hot tub, restaurant/bar, and you can even get an outdoor massage.

Puerta Cortes

Cardón Restaurant in Puerta Cortes

Cardón is perched on top of a hill in La Paz so you’ll be sure to get the best views of the sea of cortez. We loved catching the sunset here while sipping on a mezcal cocktail.

Espiritu Spa

During our trip to La Paz we decided to book a couples massage in Espiritu Spa which is right in the resort. The full body massage started with a foot soak and once they were finished, we were offered some herbal tea. I also recommend setting some time aside for their sauna.

Nearby Attractions

The famous Balandra beach is just a 15 minute ride from Puerta Cortes. Some would say this is the best beach in Mexico because of its crystal clear blue water. There are a few ways to get here including bringing your own vehicle and waiting in line during their entry times (8 am and 12pm), taking the playa bus from the city, or joining a tour which will take you to areas not often accessed by vistors.

If you decide you want to stay in Puerta Cortés, you should book in advance especially during high season. Check prices here.
