Todos Santos needs to be your next Mexico destination and here’s why: It’s a small artsy town with lots of boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes. Mexico’s secretary of tourism has declared it a Pueblo Magico which preserves its rich history, culture, and protects it from overdevelopment. There are so many adventures to do here for all ages like surfing, ATVing, hiking, and hanging out on pristine beaches. It’s also conveniently located just an hour from Cabo.

How To Get To Todos Santos

By Shuttle

Most people fly into Cabo San Lucas or San Jose Del Cabo. Each trip will be about an hour to an hour and a half. Hotels sometimes have shuttle services available or you can book through third party companies like CaboSanLucasShuttles.

Car Rental

I would highly recommend renting a car if you want to explore beyond Todos Santos town. We had our campervan with us and driving here has been pretty straight forward and we’ve had no issues at all. If you are planning on going to the beach, it is almost guaranteed that you will be driving on dirt roads but you don’t need a 4×4 vehicle.

Where To Stay In Todos Santos

In terms of the best, there’s no better place to stay than Paradero Hotel. It is a luxurious hotel with a unique and minimal design. We loved that it was situated between the desert and coast so we got a really nice breeze and views of both landscapes. Being a luxury hotel though, it does cost around $550-$900 depending on the room. But if you’re willing to splurge, this is definitely the place to do it.

Hotel Highlights:

  • Pool and hot tub
  • Restaurant on site
  • Farm
  • Fitness room and yoga classes
  • Experiences and breakfast included
  • Garden and spa

More stays worth checking out:

Hotel San Cristobal might be the best option if you want to stay in a beach front hotel. It has ocean view rooms where you can see whales breaching in the winter. They also have an amazing pool with a great happy hour. Check Rates

Hotel So Far So Good is in the surf town of Cerritos. The property is beautiful and you can choose from their rooms with a soaking tub or pool. They also have a yummy vegan cafe on site. This area is just a 20 minute drive from Todos Santos town and is worth checking out for the laid back vibe and surf lessons. Check Rates.

What To Eat and Drink in Todos Santos

It’s very overwhelming to think about where to eat in Todos Santos because there are so many great places to choose from. From taquerias to high end farm to table eats, there’s something for everyone and every budget. Check out my blog for the best restaurants in Todos Santos.

Fish Taco Santo Chilote

One of Baja’s pride and joy is the fish taco but the dish that really stood out to us here was the Coconut Battered Shrimp. They made sauces specifically for this taco such as the mango sauce and pineapple habanero salsa. We also really loved their fish & pulpo tacos. Each taco is about $55 pesos ($3USD).

Jazamango

Jazamango

You cannot miss a lunch or dinner in Jazamango. It’s a farm to table restaurant and I highly recommend strolling around their farm while you’re there. It’s on the pricier side but totally worth it! Dishes were around $24-$35 USD.

Barracuda

Barracuda Todos Santos

We had to check this one out since it was featured on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles and it also had tons of great reviews. Their beer battered fish tacos were amazing and if you like raw seafood, you absolutely have to try the Tuna Tostada. $55-$200 pesos per dish. ($3-$10 USD)

The Green Room

The Green Room is a little bit out the way (about 30 minutes from town) and was on a mile of dirt road but it’s a must, specially during sunset. The tables are on the beach so you can actually enjoy your dinner and drinks with your toes in the sand. We also saw a whale breach during sunset. $10 USD per dish on average.

Doce Cuarenta

Doce Cuarenta

Tucked in an unassuming neighborhood is this hipster coffee shop/ wine bar. Had a really cool digital nomad crowd during the week and we loved how big the space was. If you are working remotely this would be an ideal place to spend the day.

Things To Do in Todos Santos

Wander Town

Take a stroll along this Pueblo Magico and check out some of the art shops, restaurants, and boutique stores. It’s a small town which makes it very walkable. For the most photogenic spots, I highly recommend checking out Mercado Cielito Lindo and the surrounding area. There are also lots of local crafts to shop for here.

Take Surf Lessons in Cerritos Beach

Cerritos Beach

Cerritos is a cute surf town that is definitely worth checking out. Surfing here is for all levels and beginners can take classes like this Full Day Surfing Lesson. I also recommend spending a day or two here since there are great options for hotels, food, and coffee.

Relax or Hike in Punta Lobos Beach

One of our favorite beaches in the area is Punta Lobos. We loved how it was never crowded and it was the most scenic in my opinion. Some days you can also watch the fisherman get in and out which is quite the sight to see since the waves here are pretty intense.

The trails start to the left of Hotel San Cristobal and if you are okay with a little rock scrambling the views get even better as you go on. There are several trails here which can get very confusing so make sure you pay attention to your route.

Take an ATV Tour

ATV Todos Santos

There are countless dirt roads in the area that can take you where most vehicles can’t. We rented side by sides from Baja Rock Pirates and their team and equipment are the best in the area. Our vehicle had a GPS and radios so we can communicate easily with everyone in our group. Choose from a self guided tour or hire a guide to take you through the hidden gems of Todos Santos.

Drink Coffee and Save Dogs

Cerritos Beach Dogs is a new addition to this surf town. It’s a coffee shop/dog rescue built in just 30 days by the community. Come by and sip coffee (profits go directly to dogs), volunteer, foster, or adopt. Getting dogs off the streets in Mexico might seem like an uphill battle but it’s very nice to see the locals and tourists coming together supporting this cause.
